With recent images of Jude Law emerging sporting a thinning barnet, not to mention Prince William and Wayne Rooney who are well known for their receding hair lines; male hair loss is becoming more and more of a hot topic in the media. Yet, unsurprisingly, it still doesn’t tend to feature as a topic of conversation on most boys nights out; instead hair loss is still considered a taboo subject amongst a significant number of males in the UK. Despite the subject finding its way onto front pages, proving that even the young and famous can find themselves dealing with the prospect of hair loss, a survey commissioned by REGAINEĀ® for Men Foam in the lead up to Valentine’s Day shows that British men are 20% more likely to worry about going bald than finding a long term partner and 50% more likely to worry about hair loss than going bankrupt. Research reveals that 40% of men under 35 are already losing their hair. Yet amazingly, 7 out of 10 men questioned in the survey admitted they do not talk to their friends or partner about going bald, and nearly a quarter of British men who were surveyed admitted the reason that they don’t seek help or advice about hair loss is because they simply don’t believe the treatments work. Aside from invasive options such as Wayne Rooney’s hair transplant, there are other innovative solutions including non-invasive hair loss treatments. If hair loss is affecting your life and impacting on your ability to feel confident this Valentine’s Day then log …

Question: ok .. i feel bad writting this abt my sister.?
we were out to eat with a bunch of people on NYE and we were talking abt mutual friends and I asked if they lady we were taking abt his kids, and my friend said ‘no, but everyone confuses her w. being pregnant.’ i guess because the lady is overweight. all of a sudden, my sister says “remember, when that girl asked you if you were pregnant?” it totally slipped my mind, because that was literally 8 years ago ? lol. so i thought, i was like “oh, yeah.” so akward. the funny thing is, about a year ago, she was at work and a guy actually asked her if she was pregnant. why wouldnt she bring that up? why would she bring up something to me that happened 8 years ago? i let it slide though. the other day me and her went shopping andbought vitamins .. it is a multi vitamin to give me energy as well as burn fat quicker and speed up my metabolism. i thought for the new year and all i should spend more time at the gym. she bought a vitamin for her skin, hair and nails .. i guess to make her prettier? idkk, so at dinner w. my family my dad askes what we bought and she says “sammi bought weight loss pills” there not particularly weight loss pills, but was i going to say ” yeah, and you bought pills to make you prettier? noo, not at all. once again, i dont kno why she had to say what i bought first anyway. i am not self conscious at all. i am very confident in myself, and hold myself very well. why does she keep doing this to me?
no, actually, people like you annoy me. i clearly know how to spell ‘about’ and ‘with’. thank you very much.

she was never going to bring up an incident that made herself look bad, personally i would have reminded her of it when she pointed it out.
your sister is a very negative influence on you it seems, she is obviously very uncomfortable in her own body and is trying to spot light you to take her mind off it. dont spend any time with her if she continues to do this, you have confidence and if she keeps at this she may start to ebb away at it and thats just low. distance yourself and if she asks why tell her you are sick of her trying to down you all the time and make herself look better than you in the eyes of friends and family. she can either cut it out or you will cut her out.

In a city where vanity often precedes all other virtues, here is a cautionary tale for those for whom the mirror dominates all other concerns. Thirty-five-year-old Aryan Vaid, who started his career by winning the hunky Mr. India pageant in 2000, has admitted to Mumbai Mirror that abusing his body with a hair-loss pill and exhaustive two-and-a-half hour workouts have cost him his virility. Vaid’s testosterone levels have dipped alarmingly and his energy levels have been low for the last several months. He realised the gravity of the situation only a few weeks ago. My testosterone levels have come down. They are hinging on the borderline now. I am paying the price for abusing my body, admitted Vaid. I used to hit the gym for nearly two-and-a-half hours every day. I used to get very tired but I never realised where I was heading. My body started releasing cortisol, one of the two parts of the adrenal gland. This began neutering my testosterone levels. I did not pay much attention to this, until I started getting symptoms associated with high blood pressure. In addition, an anti-balding drug has played havoc with Vaid’s system. There was some hair fall in the front, on the right side. I started taking a drug, which I thought would prevent hair loss. It worked as well, but my doctors said that this drug too was one of the reasons why my testosterone levels dropped, he said. When contacted, sexologist Rajan Bhonsle confirmed the potential adverse effects of too much exercise …

What is Finpecia? Finpecia is a generic form of the active drug Finasteride (often known by its brand name of finpecia). Finpecia is marketed by the drug company Cipla which is located in India. The generic drug is primarily used for treating male pattern baldness which occurs on the crown of the head and mid area of the scalp. Finpecia will only promote hair growth in these areas. Currently, Finpecia is the only drug which is approved by the FDA for treating male pattern baldness. It may also be used as a treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). How does Finpecia Work? Finpecia is a type of synthetically-produced androgen antagonist. It prevents the actions of an enzyme which normally will convert the male hormone testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is more powerful than testosterone and can cause hair loss on the scalp and enlarged prostate. When Finpecia blocks DHT from forming, lost hair is re-grown and hair loss is prevented. It will also reduce the size of the prostate, thus reducing symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. DHT is only responsible for hair loss and growth on the head. It will not cause hair to grow on any other part of the body. www.haircaremedstore.com

Question: What do you think of the beginning of my story?
The cancer’s back?
My pulse quickens as I start to tap my heel on the group, banging out a rhythm with my hands on my khakis. I gulp a few times, I guess out of instinct since that’s usually how it happens in the movies. This is the third time I’ve heard these words come out of Dr. Allen’s mouth, but something tells me that this is going to be different. His eyes are shifting around the room, trying to avoid making direct eye contact with any of us, he keeps running his hands through his hair, you know, the usual signs.
I start to squirm in my seat, so much so that it gets my wife’s attention. She places her palm on my knee, beckoning me to quit, which I find odd because not even twenty minutes ago she claimed that she was going to knock me out if I didn’t stop acting that. I don’t even know how I was acting in the first place, so it’s hard for me to judge.
“And the prognosis doesn’t look good,” is what draws me out of my contemplation. It’s the same drabble as always, but Chris always makes it through no matter what life throws at him, so I shouldn’t have a reason to worry. At least I don’t think I should. I shove the “oh my God, he’s going to die” into the back on my mind, hoping it will never come back up again.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Zach sit up in his seat. “Wait, what do you mean?” How many times does he possibly need to hear this?
“I mean that Chris doesn’t have much longer left.”
Kate jumps in. “I thought you said that the radiation course would work this time?” It’s a question, not a statement. I don’t know why they’re still bothering since we all know how strong Chris really is. Zach and Kate just like to take part in these conversations, but I know that my brother thinks the same way I do. He’s doing this just to pacify his worry wart of a wife, as usual.
“I thought it would, but the cancer has shattered his immune system and he is no longer able to fight it. The only chance he has now is a kidney transplant, which is what we discussed earlier.”
This is Dr. Allen’s nice way of telling me that my oldest brother is going to die. He doesn’t know Chris all that well, he doesn’t know what he can handle. Chris has been battling this for God knows how long now, he can pull through. He always pulls through.
“Kidney transplant?” Zach breathes. I see Kate entwine her fingers with his.
The older doctor nods. “And the only match we found is Kevin.” He switches his position in his rolling chair in order to look over at me. He probably sees my heart drop into the pit of my stomach, the lump form in the back of my throat, the thin layer of sweat that’s starting to drip down my forehead. Jessica and I have already talked about this and we’re both okay with it, even though I’m terrified of having surgery. I’m still not proud to admit that I cried the night before I got my appendix taken out and Jessica had to be much stronger than I was.

It’s still a bit rough. So, is it good, bad, or horrible? Please let me know.

Answer by Elisabeth Hess
First of all, I really didn’t want to read it. When I read the first paragraph, I basically forced myself to read the rest. It needs more info on the matter, the feelings and mood of the room. Proofreading is really important too.
Second, the docter should acknowledge Kevin more. I didn’t realize he was talking about him until the last paragraph.
Lastly, say more about the past and when you found out Chris had cancer, it helps to keep the reader involved.
Overall, it’s good. Good luck writing!
